When spending time at the X20 in Warsaw, you will experience added value in every detail. Both an office building and social hub with restaurants and cafes, the multifunctional centre carries the BREEAM Very Good building certificate, in part thanks to windows and façade systems by Reynaers Aluminium. An exciting story of partnership and bespoke innovation.
Structural glazing at its best
“X20 provides the ideal balance of work and leisure, making it the perfect choice for businesses looking for a modern workspace outside the city centre”, architect Michał Dezór from JSK Architekci tells us. “The primary design consideration was to create a contemporary, elegant form that responds to and establishes a dialogue with the industrial surroundings.”
The ground floors of the building are enhanced with ConceptWall 50 Structural Glazing elements. Above, the façade incorporates the standard high insulation variant of ConceptWall 50, paired with Masterline 8 High Insulation windows. This combination of almost 4,000 square metres of glazed façades helps to optimise both light entry and thermal efficiency of the entire building. The aluminium windows are equipped with high-quality turn-and-tilt fittings supplied by Fapim, ensuring durability and ease of use. Additionally, to accentuate the building's intrinsic architecture, Hidden Vent window variants were used throughout the façade, which ensured a uniform look and feel.
Overcoming challenges with innovation
One of the major challenges faced during the construction of X20 was the connection of metal sheets and the façade elements using precise seals. Reynaers Aluminium rose to the occasion by providing specialised profiles and a new moulding, specifically designed for ConceptWall 50. “This bespoke solution addressed the technical challenges and elevated the overall architectural design”, Michał Dezór proudly explains.
Jerzy Stępień, Regional Sales Manager Reynaers Aluminium RCE, adds: “We absolutely wanted to provide the best coordination and support. We supplied detailed drawings and even oversaw the prefabrication processes, which is how we managed to ensure a seamless execution in line with the architect’s vision.” The technical department's proactive engagement helped navigate complex challenges, affirming Reynaers Aluminium’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
Environmental stewardship
X20 is not only a hub for business and commerce but also a model for environmental stewardship. With the strategic use of sustainable materials and systems, including Reynaers Aluminium's low-energy and highly recyclable profiles, the project achieved a BREEAM Very Good rating. The high standard of finishing and optimal access to daylight guarantee comfortable working conditions for all, contributing to the extended lifetime of the building.
Together with investors AIG and White Star Real Estate, JSK Architekci and Reynaers Aluminium have created something special. The visionary design and strategic partnerships resulted in truly transformative spaces, of which all stakeholders involved can be very proud of.
