Breathtaking views thanks to MasterPatio by Reynaers Aluminium
Picture this: you run a construction firm and decide to invest in an apartment to showcase your expertise. It's a smart move, but here's the twist… the apartment is on the 16th floor. By leveraging the breathtaking views of the Antwerp skyline and with strategic support from Reynaers Aluminium, you turn it into a valuable asset. This is what Jef Peeters Bouw & Renovatie achieved with their Scheldt riverbank penthouse.

A challenge at high altitude
For the windows, Jef Peeters Bouw & Renovatie had to follow the building's regulations. The exterior windows needed to retain their natural aluminium appearance, and the subdivisions were fixed and unchangeable. To incorporate black profiles inside the penthouse while meeting these external requirements, bicolour window profiles were chosen from the MasterPatio and MasterLine 8 series, showcasing different colours on the inside and outside.
Installing sliding systems on the 16th floor of an apartment building presents unique challenges. Boven Yvo took pride in being the first to install the new system in Belgium. Despite the daring task, their skilled and dedicated workshop team ensured the project's successful completion.

Total makeover with lots of outdoor light
When Jef Peeters Bouw & Renovatie bought the penthouse to turn it into a showroom flat for the company, the wooden profiles of the windows were rotten. The furnishings were also out of date. Jef Peeters: ‘We quickly knew how we would renovate the penthouse. We wanted to bring in as much light as possible through all the window openings and make the view over Antwerp unforgettable. The large windows combined with the height of the penthouse allow us to enjoy the colourful sky scenes, special cloud formations and sunrise and sunset much more consciously.’
‘As a total contractor, we take on the entire project from design to execution and focus on high-quality interior finishes. For our penthouse, we demolished all interior walls and rearranged the available area. To maximise outside light in all rooms of the penthouse, we also had windows placed in the interior walls. For the finishing touch, we chose natural colours and materials and rounded off the corners in the walls and the custom work. This way, the floor, custom work, paintwork and natural stone form a soothing whole.’

A scoop at great heights
Sliding windows on the 16th floor of an apartment building: of course, that presents some challenges. ‘At that height, windows are exposed to an enormous amount of wind and water. This is a challenge that MasterPatio can meet with flying colours because, as I said, the system is completely wind and watertight,’ explains Jonathan Geerinckx, company owner Boven Yvo.
‘We had the honour of being the first to install the new system. To do so, we immediately had to perform a daring feat: we had to lift the windows by crane up to the 16th floor and install them at that height. The people from our workshop and our installation department pulled that off successfully.’

Insulating, safe and ultra-strong
Why aluminium is the favourite material of fabricators all over the world? There are many reasons. Firstly, aluminium offers excellent insulation, not only against cold and heat, but also against noise. Next, choosing aluminium windows means embracing optimal safety. It is an incombustible material that offers different levels of burglar resistance too, which makes it an interesting choice for tall residential towers such as the Penthouse. Finally, and maybe not that obvious to some: aluminium is incredibly strong and versatile. These slim and light-weight profiles can carry massive glass weights, creating very large window sections in all kinds of architectural styles.
Belgian craftsmanship
The contractor's preference for Reynaers Aluminium is also not accidental according to Jonathan. ‘For me, Reynaers Aluminium equals handmade in Belgium. With a Belgian partner, you can be sure that communication and project follow-up are fast and smooth. And for us as a manufacturer and installer of windows and doors, it's a big plus that we can call on their after-sales service.’
‘Reynaers Aluminium's technical knowledge is also enormous. The test centre in Duffel is really quite impressive. When you see how Reynaers Aluminium tests its new and existing systems there in all possible conditions, you confidently present that brand to your customers. And they then present it confidently to the end customer.’
Collaboration brings project to fruition
And great collaborations flow from trust. Not for nothing do Boven Yvo and Jef Peeters Bouw & Renovatie like to work with regular partners. ‘We choose partnership because then you work hand in hand to satisfy the end customer. And that is exactly what Reynaers does, right down to the building site itself,’ agrees Jonathan Geerinckx.
‘We too work with regular partners,’ agrees Astrid Van Tricht of Jef Peeters Bouw & Renovatie. ‘We want long-term relationships with our suppliers that are based on trust. We are therefore very satisfied about our partnership with Reynaers Partner Boven Yvo.’
