Stone House
Immersed in the charm of the countryside north of Rome, Stone House challenges the boundaries of traditional design. Built on an area of only 43 square metres, the private home perfectly blends modernity and functionality, demonstrating how space can be not only inhabited, but experienced in an authentic way. Reynaers Aluminium windows, doors and sliding systems add to the profound sense of abstraction and contrast inherent to this building.
More than just a living space
With small details and through a clever interplay of perspectives, the architect tries to surprise visitors and offer different viewpoints. “I wanted to create an architectural language that was totally different from the classic narrative you see around these parts” Ekström explains. “The travertine stone, water, grass lawn and sky act like balanced natural elements, creating a microcosm suspended between reality and abstraction.” Throughout the day, the water reflects on the walls and ceilings inside, creating the illusion of continuous motion. It invites visitors to explore new parts of the house, depending on the weather and time of day.
In the end, Stone House is more than just a living space: it is an intimate dialogue with the light of Rome, its landscape, and its spirit. It is a unique example of how aesthetics and practicality can merge into an exciting living experience, where every corner tells a story, and every ray of sun draws new perspectives.
